Wiki Loves Earth:Jury

The jury of hte first edition of Wiki Loves Earth in Spain is composed of the following members:

• Ignacio Palacios, professional photographer located in Australia and well known internationaly for his works in travel and landscape photography. He studied engineering in Zaragoza (Spain) but finally followed the steps of three photographer generations in his family and dedicated himself to photography professionaly. His works have been published in photography magazines like Australian Geographic, National Geographic or Luminous Landscape, along with some travel agencies in Lonely Planet. He has been travelling intensively since 1998 visiting more than 80 counries. He has published several books, has organized photograhy exhibitiones and his works have also been exhibited in manz others, above all in Australia, in such like Australian Geographic or Head On prize. He has been awarded in competitions like National Geographic Traveler, Australian Geographic, Head On or The International Landscape Photographer of the year, among others. He has recently won the LUX prize (professional photography awards in Spain) in the catgory nature and travel.

• João Miguel Vasconcelos, Portuguese teacher in the Instituto Camões, for Cooperation and Language in universities in Panama. He has got a bachelor in mechanical and materials engineering along with Administration and Business Management, specialized in Human Resources Management. He is also consultant and intercional counsellor in economic and cultural relationships. João is president of Wikimedia Portugal and an apassionate photographer and follower of photography exhibitiones like the one of Sebastião Salgado and his family. He was also active in photography in the context of human rights for organisations like International Amnesty and Human Rights Watch. He is also active editor and contributor to Wikimedia Commons.

• Juan Antonio Medina Cuaresma, first naturalist and then photographer from Valladolid. He is a professional photographer and member of the Spanish Society of Nature Photographers (AEFONA) and was taught by some of the most relevant nature photographers. He is specially attracted by the photography of insects, birds and landscapes. He has a bachelor in Management and Conservation of Wild Life and Protected areas from the University of León. He works with different organisations dedicated to the nature conservation and founded in 2013 the company BUTEO Iniciativas Ambientales, dedicated to ecotourism, environment education and nature photography. .

• Pedro Jesús Pacheco is a clerk from Murcia and an apassionate photographer especially, but not only, in urban and travel photograhy. He has participated in Wiki Loves Monuments since 2012, and his work has been selected in the final top 10 in several countries, reaching last year the rank 9 in the worlwide selection. He is member of Wikimedia Spain since 2015 and an active contributor and editor in Wikimedia Commons.

The coordination of the jury is done by Manuel Torío, member of the board of Wikimedia Spain and coordinator of the jury of Wiki Loves Monuments in 2013.
